Last week, MedCity CONVERGE brought executives from across all healthcare sectors to Philadelphia to talk about innovation. Naveen Rao of Patchwise Labs moderated a panel on lessons learned from working with big data, where he facilitated discussion between Nick Stepro, senior director of product management at Arcadia, Dr. Edward Ewan of Christiana Care Health System, and Hal Andrews of Digital Reasoning.

The panel covered topics ranging from health information exchanges to ACOs to workflow challenges to the potential opportunities and challenges created by patient-generated data from devices such as FitBits.  Stepro spoke about bringing the insights gained from big data into a provider’s workflow, and the importance of thinking through when to fit into an existing workflow versus when to challenge it in order to provide a solution that is ultimately better.
